National Recycling Awards: Biffa shortlisted for seven titles

Biffa has been shortlisted for several titles at the 2024 National Recycling Awards. 

Biffa’s work with local authority, innovation and business partners to tackle climate change, enable the circular economy and improve recycling has been particularly well recognised. 

Judges have put the UK leader in sustainable waste management forward for seven awards across four categories. 

Organised by trade magazine Materials Recycling World and billed as “the largest and most esteemed award ceremony in the recycling and resource management sector”, the National Recycling Awards attract an audience of over 500 industry leaders.  

The winners will be announced on November 26 at the Hilton Metropole London.

Partnership Excellence – Commercial 

Biffa / M&B: Increasing recycling and diverting food waste from landfill 

Partnership Excellence – Public/Private Sector 

• Biffa / Manchester City Council: Pioneering fleet of electric refuse vehicles
• Biffa / South Oxfordshire & Vale of White Horse: High domestic recycling rates
• Biffa/ Brunel University / ReBorn: Development of recyclable kitchenware
• Biffa / Border Force UK

Social Value 

• Biffa Manchester Municipal: Waste Champions & Eco Days school scheme 

Team of the Year 

• Biffa Cornwall Municipal: Crew’s charitable community work 

In addition, SWRNewstar, which Biffa acquired in 2019, is shortlisted for two awards in the Commercial Partnership Excellence category.
