Changing the way people think about waste
We are Biffa
We’ve been at the forefront of the UK waste management industry for over 100 years. We take pride in leading by example and helping others to be more sustainable, inspiring businesses to change and supporting the communities in which we operate.
Resourceful, responsible
We aim to be both resourceful and responsible, in our efforts to lessen the impact of waste on the environment and reduce our own impact too. We’ve already reduced our carbon emissions by 70% since 2002 and have a clear path to achieve net zero by 2050.
Enabling the circular economy
We work in partnership with organisations across the UK to drive change, sharing our expertise so more can participate in the circular economy. As well as collecting waste, we create sustainable strategies for UK organisations to prevent and reduce waste, helping them to redistribute surplus and recycle or recover more.
Fostering sustainable communities
Biodiversity
Our goal is to increase biodiversity across our sites and in the community through programmes such as Biffa Award and Biffa Bee's.
Community Shop
Delivering quality surplus food, at deeply discounted prices to those who need it most.
Training & reskilling
Supporting long term unemployed people gain new skills with training, apprenticeships and work placements. We also encourage behaviour change with educational content on recycling.
WasteAid partnership
Our partnership with WasteAid is helping communities in developing countries improve their management of waste. We also support charities in local communities.
Tackling climate change
Over the past two decades, we have reduced our own carbon emissions by 70%. We have invested in green infrastructure and low carbon collections. We have also continued to improve our operational efficiency and have purchased renewable energy for most of our sites.
