Information and resources for local communities and households
Practical help and support to help the communities in which we operate.
Practical help and support
With a network of 100 depots and local teams serving over 98% of UK postcodes, we are active in local communities up and down the country. From providing green waste collections for household garden waste to visiting local schools to help teach young children about the importance of recycling.
Information for households
We support many local councils with household waste collection services. Biffa helps these local councils safely reduce waste, improve sustainability, and increase recycling rates. Our services include collection of general, food and recyclable waste, street cleaning, and the management of household waste recycling centres.
Educational activities for school children
Many of our local teams will visit schools to help educate children on how waste impacts the environment, and the importance of recycling. We can offer support to schools with workshops, fun educational activities, and initiatives to engage children in biodiversity, such as Biffa Bees.
Spot a Wasteater
Wasteaters are some of our more colourful trucks, created to build engagement and excitement around recycling. They are still out and about in the UK today, although quite shy, nocturnal creatures. If spotted, you can tweet @Biffa with photos of your sighting using #wasteater.

Green Waste Club for household garden waste
With over 65,000 members the Green Waste Club offers a subscription collection service for green waste for as little as £1 per week. If we support your local council with waste collection services, then you may be able to subscribe. Residents can choose an individual subscription, or together with their neighbours share a group subscription. All green waste collected is converted at our facilities into compost for domestic and agricultural use.
