Biffa's recycling expertise is highlighted in a documentary about Scotland's drive to net zero.

BBC ALBA presenter Mairi Rodgers was given an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Biffa's Broxburn facility in West Lothian, which processes the recyclable waste from thousands of homes across Scotland.

The footage forms part of a two-hour documentary called Alba Uaine - Green Scotland - which explores how recycling plays a vital role in the country’s efforts to bring down emissions in the fight against climate change.

Mairi follows the Harper family in Inverness as they take steps to reduce their own carbon footprint, before heading to Broxburn where the recycling is sorted.

Mairi speaks to Biffa's sustainability experts about the environmental benefits of recycling and the circular economy - as well as the problems of wishcycling - before working on the picking line, where any non-recyclable waste is removed by hand.

Green Scotland is available on the BBC iPlayer.
