Supporting Estée Lauder's Sustainable Future - Biffa

Problem

Estée Lauder required a total waste management solution to introduce effective waste management systems, put in place sustainable solutions for recycling and proactively find alternative uses for what had been treated as waste. With a manufacturing facility in Petersfield UK and a state of the art fulfilment centre in Fareham UK, brand protection is of paramount importance to Estée Lauder.

Solution

Biffa deployed experts into Estée Lauder’s business from its Total Waste Management team to review their processes, material streams and engrained culture. Tackling each material stream individually, Biffa engages with Estée Lauder’s teams to align materials to more sustainable solutions. Estée lauder have moved complex materials into secure recycling routes and create sustainable products such as site furniture, racking boards and signage. We now look to re-purpose packaging containers in alternative supply chains, which were previously disposed of, reducing the reliance on raw materials.

Benefits

Working in partnership, Biffa continuously tracks and improves your sustainability performance. With Estée Lauder it has resulted in diversion of over 600 tonnes into sustainable routes in less than a year, which was previously declared waste.
